Definition

Each entry in the DIT has an 'objectClass' attribute.

EQUALITY objectIdentifierMatch
SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.38 )

The 'objectIdentifierMatch' matching rule and the OBJECT IDENTIFIER (1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.38) syntax are defined in RFC4517.

It is a Subschema entry as defined in RFC4512. X501 Subschema mechanism is held in (sub)entries belonging to the subschema auxiliary object class.

( 2.5.20.1 NAME 'subschema' AUXILIARY
MAY ( dITStructureRules $ nameForms $ ditContentRules $
objectClasses $ attributeTypes $ matchingRules $
matchingRuleUse ) )

Usage

The 'objectClass' attribute specifies the object classes of an entry, which (among other things) are used in conjunction with the controlling schema to determine the permitted attributes of an entry Values of this attribute can be modified by clients, but the 'objectClass' attribute cannot be removed.

Active Directory tip

If you are in a Microsoft environment, using active directory, which is LDAP compliant, it is not recommended to use openosi.schema. It is better to leave Active Directory handle Internal objects, while a separate LDAP directory like openldap or Java apacheDS is used for external objects and integration. You may also consider using a virtual directory product in addition.
