Description: openOSI xml-schema framework

openOSI OID xml-schema framework describes openOSI implementation of W3C XML SCHEMA.

The objective is to provide the open source community with xml-schemas, related to openOSI contributions:

  • X500 / LDAP directory
  • X509 / Certificates - Digital keys
  • Ontologies Metadata

openOSI schemas comply with W3C recommandations

Therefore this is the framework for xs:schema element in all openOSI schemas

<xs:schema  xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
            xmlns: (prefix)="<External optional Name space reference (URI-URL-URN)>"
            attributeFormDefault="unqualified" version=" <version number>"  xml:lang="en" id="<schema unique name>">
  • targetNamespace policy is to use URN identifier (Uniform Resource Name) because it provides persistent naming of resources. URLs lead to great confusion regarding XML namespaces because people assume an XML namespace in the form of a URL will be resolvable.
  • version policy is "mandatory use"
  • xml:lang policy is "mandatory use"
  • id policy is "mandatory use" with value=<Document unique name>
  • xs:documentation policy is "mandatory use" with value including individual schema OID with URL referal
